Paracas, Ica y Nasca
Paracas National Reserve is located 250 km south of Lima (approximately 3 hours away by bus) on a 335'000 ha area. Here you can find sea lions, marine otters, Humboldt penguins, etc. There are also 5'000-year old archaeological remains. The city of Ica is situated in a fertile valley in southern Peru. This warm city is famous for its production of Pisco, a grape brandy, and the oasis of Huacachina, located in the middle of beautiful tropical palms and impressive dunes. Nasca is located 449 km south of Lima. 2'500 years ago, it was home to a pre-Inca civilization that was very advanced in astronomy and ceramics art. About 1'000 years ago, some lines were made on the desert of Nasca, which can be seen from the sky. These lines are a testimony of the Nasca culture.
