Chiclayo is a city in coastal northern Peru, 750 km away from Lima. It is the capital city of Lambayeque department. Lambayeque was the home of important pre-Columbian cultures, namely Mochica and Chimú. A few years ago, it became a major focus of attention due to the discovery of the tomb of the legendary Señor de Sipán, who is thought to be a member of the Moche or Mochica royalty. Chiclayo also has numerous colonial mansions, worth visiting, as well as the extraordinary Brunning museum, which houses a remarkable collection of gold jewelry, ceramics and textiles from the Chimú culture.
